Johnny Wujek moved to Los Angeles from Detroit, initially pursuing a career as a model before transitioning into an assistant stylist role for commercials and movie sets. He quickly established himself in the fashion industry, becoming known for his unique and creative work. His career progression highlights include collaborating with pop idols and artists on their red carpet appearances and music videos. Wujek spent three years on The Hollywood Reporter’s ‘Top 25 List of Most Powerful Stylists’. He is recognized for advocating for confidence and setting new standards in contemporary fashion through his versatile and original designs.
Since 2005, Johnny Wujek has served as Katy Perry’s stylist and costume designer. Some of his notable work with Perry includes costume-designing her looks for the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show in 2015, which achieved a Guinness World Record for viewership with 118.5 million viewers in the United States, becoming the highest-rated halftime show in Super Bowl history. In 2017, he became the creative director for Katy Perry Collections. Wujek’s expertise extends to editorial work for publications such as Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, WWD, and Harper’s Bazaar. He has also styled commercials and fashion editorials, and has worked on productions for The Grammys and various major fashion brands.
Beyond his styling work, Johnny Wujek has expanded his career into television and creative direction. He was handpicked by Tyra Banks to be a creative consultant and celebrity judge for ‘America’s Next Top Model’ seasons 19 and 20. He also served on ‘Project Runway All Stars’ and was hired as a costume designer for HBO Max’s show ‘Legendary’ in early 2020. In 2015, he was a key member of the E! Style Collective and co-hosted ‘E! News Live’ from the red carpet for both the Met Ball and the Academy Awards. Wujek also appeared as himself on HBO’s ‘Girls’ in 2016 and starred in E! News’ Snapchat original fashion program ‘FACE FORWARD’ in 2018, which received the Webby People’s Voice Award for Social: Fashion and Beauty.
