Lee Majors

Lee Majors achieved his breakthrough in 1965 with the co-starring role of Heath Barkley in the Western series ‘The Big Valley,’ which ran for four seasons until 1969. His acting career began earlier, with an uncredited role in the 1964 film ‘Strait-Jacket’ and guest appearances on notable television programs such as ‘Gunsmoke’ and ‘The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.’ Following his success on ‘The Big Valley,’ Majors signed with Universal Studios, leading to appearances in the film ‘The Liberation of L.B. Jones’ (1970) and joining the final season of ‘The Virginian’ (retitled ‘The Men from Shiloh’ for its final run) in 1970. He further solidified his television presence starring as Jess Brandon in ‘Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law’ from 1971 to 1974, and earlier co-starred in the 1968 film ‘Will Penny’ and landed a lead role in the 1969 television film ‘The Ballad of Andy Crocker.’ Majors’ most celebrated role commenced in 1973 as Colonel Steve Austin in ‘The Six Million Dollar Man.’ This science-fiction action series became a global phenomenon, running until 1978 and establishing Majors as a household name and pop culture icon.
