Born on December 5, 2005, in White Plains, New York, Lindsay Thorngren began figure skating at the age of four in Maple Grove, Minnesota, in 2009. She entered her first competition at five years old in 2010. After her family moved to New Jersey, she started training under Julia Lautowa. Thorngren quickly progressed through the ranks, competing at the U.S. Championship at the juvenile level in 2017, where she placed sixth. Her early career highlights include winning the U.S. intermediate women’s title in 2019 and the U.S. junior national title in 2020. Her music choices often reflect her interest in movie soundtracks, with programs set to music from films like ‘Anastasia’, ‘Les Misérables’, and ‘Spectre’.
Thorngren made her junior international debut in 2019 on the Junior Grand Prix circuit. A notable turning point occurred during the 2021-22 season when she earned a bronze medal at the 2022 World Junior Championships in Tallinn. This achievement came after strong performances at the Junior Grand Prix events, including a gold medal at the 2021 JGP France I and a bronze at the 2021 JGP Slovenia. Her senior international debut at the 2021 CS Warsaw Cup saw her finish fifth. Her career further advanced with her Grand Prix debut in the 2022-23 season, participating in the 2022 Skate Canada International and the 2022 Grand Prix of Espoo, and securing a gold medal at the 2022 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb.
The 2023-24 season marked a significant achievement for Thorngren with her first Grand Prix medal, a silver at the 2023 NHK Trophy, despite sustaining injuries beforehand. Her dedication is also evident in her academic pursuits, as she is currently a high school student, and her passion for track events, having competed in 400m and 800m races. Thorngren is proud of her Dominican heritage, and she uses her platform to advocate for diversity and inclusion in figure skating, aspiring to build an ice rink in the Dominican Republic. As of June 2025, she has been removed from the World Standings lists and is no longer part of the Team USA International Selection Pool.
