Lisa Niemi Swayze

Lisa Niemi Swayze began her distinguished career after graduating from the Houston Ballet Dance Company in 1974, before pursuing a dance career in New York City in the 1970s. Adopting the professional surname Niemi in 1977, she quickly transitioned into professional choreography, contributing her expertise to hit films such as Urban Cowboy in 1980 and Grandview, U.S.A. in 1984. Her early acting credits included an appearance in Max Headroom (1987) and a co-starring role in Steel Dawn (1987).

In 2009, she co-authored the memoir The Time of My Life with Patrick Swayze, which quickly ascended to the New York Times Best Seller list. Building on this success, she released her second memoir, Worth Fighting For: Love, Loss, and Moving Forward, in 2012, which also achieved New York Times Best Seller status. A licensed pilot, Niemi Swayze utilized her skills to transport her late husband during his cancer treatments. Following his passing in 2009, she became a prominent Chief Ambassador of Hope for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, dedicating her efforts to advocating for increased research funding and public awareness for pancreatic cancer, further cementing her commitment to significant philanthropic causes.
