Sterling Knight is an American actor and singer best known for his performances as Chad Dylan Cooper in Disney Channel’s Sonny With a Chance and Zander Carlson in ABC comedy Melissa & Joey.

Hailing from South Carolina, Knight developed a love for acting when he began performing in local productions in his youth. In his teens, he was cast in his first on-screen role in the short Calm, before winning a larger role in UPN’s sitcom, Eve; Knight appeared in over thirty episodes over the years. Soon after, Knight was spotted by Disney and was cast as Lucas in Disney Channel’s Emmy-nominated comedy Hannah Montana, starring Miley Cyrus.

Knight’s big break came the following year when he was cast as Chad Dylan Cooper in Disney Channel’s Sonny With a Chance. Knight received praise for his performance as Chad; the stuck up teen idol was initially introduced as the series’ antagonist, before he falls for his rival Sonny Monroe, portrayed by Demi Lovato. Knight reprised the role in two spin-offs, So Random! And MacKenzie Falls, based on the fictional shows from the series. Other television roles include Kip in Grey’s Anatomy, Billy in The Hotwives of Orlando and Zander Carlon in Melissa & Joey.

Knight has also appeared in several movies, including alongside Zac Efron in 17 Again, playing Alex. He is best known for his role in Disney Channel Original Movie StarStruck, in which he plays famous pop star, Christopher Walden. Additional movie credits include Shane in Transit, Chris in Landmine Goes Click, Art in It Snows All the Time and Charlie in Different Flowers.
