Sterling Knight

Sterling Sandmann Knight was born on March 5, 1989. Growing up in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, he developed an early interest in acting, participating in various local stage productions. He made his acting debut in minor roles in projects such as ‘Calm’, ‘Career Day’, and ‘Hi-Jinks’. His initial engagements with Disney included an appearance in an episode of ‘Hannah Montana’ in 2007. Later that year, he also appeared in two episodes of ‘The Closer’. In 2008, he had roles in ‘Out of Jimmy’s Head’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.

Knight gained wider recognition in 2009 with his role as Alex O’Donnell in the film ’17 Again’, where he played the son of Matthew Perry’s/Zac Efron’s character. The same year, he began his leading television role as Chad Dylan Cooper, a celebrity in ‘MacKenzie Falls’ within the Disney Channel series ‘Sonny with a Chance’. His character played a significant part in the show’s narrative, leading to his involvement in the spin-off sketch comedy series ‘So Random!’ from 2011 to 2012. In 2010, Knight starred as Christopher Wilde in the Disney Channel Original Movie ‘StarStruck’, a film noted for its high ratings.

Throughout his career, Knight has continued to take on diverse roles. He appeared as Shane Seedwell in the 2012 action thriller ‘Transit’ and had a recurring role as Zander Carlson in the television series ‘Melissa & Joey’ from 2013 to 2015. In 2014, he was part of ‘The Hotwives of Orlando’ on Hulu. His filmography also includes roles in ‘Landmine Goes Click’ (2015), ‘Different Flowers’ (2017), ‘The Man from Earth: Holocene’ (2017), and ‘It Snows All the Time’ (2022). He has also contributed to soundtracks, performing songs for ‘StarStruck’ and ‘Sonny with a Chance’.
