Logan Gilbert

Logan Gilbert was born on May 5, 1997, in Winter Park, Florida. He attended Wekiva High School in Apopka, Florida, where he excelled in both pitching and first base, earning team MVP honors in his senior year. Despite not being drafted out of high school, Gilbert enrolled at Stetson University, playing collegiate baseball for the Stetson Hatters. During his freshman year in 2016, he appeared in 21 games, starting five, and recorded a 2–1 record with a 2.74 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 49 innings. His sophomore season in 2017 saw significant improvement, with a 10–0 record, a 2.02 ERA, and 107 strikeouts over 89 innings, leading to him being named the ASUN Conference Pitcher of the Year. He continued this success in his junior year, again earning ASUN Conference Pitcher of the Year honors with an 11–2 record and a 2.72 ERA over 16 starts.

Gilbert was selected 14th overall by the Seattle Mariners in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft, signing for $3.88 million on June 16. His professional debut was put on hold due to a mononucleosis diagnosis, which shut him down for the remainder of 2018. He returned in 2019, starting with the West Virginia Power, then advancing to the High-A Modesto Nuts with a 5–3 record and a 1.73 ERA. Later that year, he was promoted to the Double-A Arkansas Travelers, where he finished the season with a 4–2 record and a 2.88 ERA. The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Gilbert participated in intrasquad games and was part of the Mariners’ initial 60-man roster at their alternate training site.

In 2021, Gilbert made his MLB debut as the Seattle Mariners’ starting pitcher against the Cleveland Indians on May 13. He earned his first career win on June 6 against the Los Angeles Angels. In his rookie year, he finished with a 6–5 record, a 4.68 ERA, and 128 strikeouts across 119 2/3 innings in 24 starts. The 2022 season marked his postseason debut and a career turning point, where he posted a 13–6 record with a 3.20 ERA in 32 starts, helping the Mariners clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2001. He pitched his first career shutout in 2023 and was selected for the All-Star Game in 2024, demonstrating his continued progression as a key pitcher for the Seattle Mariners.
