Lorna Maseko is an international celebrity chef, media personality and the award-winning author of cookbook Celebrate with Lorna Maseko. Known to many as South Africa’s culinary princess, Maseko has worked with numerous international brands and has travelled the globe as a representative of her country. Her many television appearances include Afro Showbiz News, South African lifestyle program Top Billing, Masterchef South Africa, Top Chef SA and her own series The Hostess with Lorna Maseko. A former professional dancer, Maseko was also a judge on the South African version of So You Think You Can Dance.
Maseko came from humble beginnings and was raised in the township of Alexandra, South Africa. She took up ballet at nine years old and in 2005 was named as the premiere black ballerina in South Africa, an achievement that led her to become the first black ballerina to perform a principle role in theatres in South Africa.
After leaving the world of ballet Maseko moved into television, starting with Afro Showbiz news and The Weekender for SABC. After appearing on the celebrity edition of MasterChef South Africa she realised she had a true passion for cooking, and went on to host Top Chef SA followed by her own series, The Hostess with Lorna Maseko. Over the years the talented chef and popular television personality has become a striking brand who enjoys creating engaging and memorable moments within every sphere of her busy life, and with more than 784k followers on Instagram she has also taken the world of social media by storm.
