Lorraine Toussaint

Lorraine Toussaint has built a distinguished career spanning film, television, and theatre, earning critical acclaim and awards for her diverse and impactful roles. After dedicating twelve years to the New York City theatre scene, notably as Lady Macbeth with Shakespeare & Company, Lorraine Toussaint transitioned to screen acting. Her professional screen debut came with ‘The Face of Rage’ (1983) and her film debut in the 1989 crime comedy ‘Breaking In,’ starring Burt Reynolds. She established her television presence with a recurring role as defense attorney Shambala Green in ‘Law & Order’ (1990-1994) and co-starred in films such as ‘Hudson Hawk’ with Bruce Willis (1991) and ‘Dangerous Minds’ with Michelle Pfeiffer (1995).

She continued with main roles as Cressida in ‘Into the Badlands’ (2018-2019) and Patricia in ‘The Village’ (2019). Film appearances include ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ (2019), ‘The Glorias’ (2020) as Florynce Kennedy, and ‘Concrete Cowboy’ (2020) as Nessi. Her vocal range extended to animated projects like ‘Big City Greens’ (2018-present) and Queen Valerin in ‘Nimona’ (2023). Currently, Lorraine Toussaint stars as Viola ‘Vi’ Marsette in CBS’s ‘The Equalizer,’ with new episodes airing through 2025.

Recent voice work includes Rashida Remington in ‘Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation’ (2024).
