Lotte Verbeek

Lotte Verbeek was born in Venlo, Netherlands, on June 24, 1982. Her educational background includes studies at Gymnasium Collegium Marianum in Venlo, graduating in 2008 from Theaterschool in Amsterdam. Prior to her acting career, she attended the Dance Academy in Arnhem and the Amsterdam Academy of Jazz/Musical Theatre and Dance, completing her studies in 2006. During this period, she gained professional experience as a dancer and model, collaborating with photographer Erwin Olaf. Her early career also involved lead roles in Dutch films and stage productions, showcasing her diverse artistic capabilities.

Verbeek gained international recognition through her acting roles. She received the Leopard for best actress at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2009 for her performance in “Nothing Personal.” This role also earned her the best actress award at the International Film Festival of Marrakech the same year and a nomination for the Golden Calf at the Netherlands Film Festival. In 2010, she was honored with the Shooting Stars Award by European Film Promotion at the Berlin International Film Festival, recognizing her as an emerging talent in European cinema. She further showcased her talent in the Italian mini-series “Le Ragazze dello Swing,” for which she received a Golden Nymph award for best actress in 2011.

Her career further advanced with significant roles in prominent television series. From 2011 to 2013, she portrayed Giulia Farnese in the Showtime period drama “The Borgias,” acting alongside Jeremy Irons. Beginning in 2014, she appeared as Geillis Duncan in the Starz series “Outlander,” a role she reprised across multiple seasons until 2024. In film, she played Helena in “The Last Witch Hunter” (2015) alongside Vin Diesel and Lidewij in “The Fault in Our Stars” (2014). She also joined the cast of “Agent Carter” in 2016 as Ana Jarvis and took on the recurring role of Katarina Rostova in “The Blacklist,” appearing in seven episodes between 2016 and 2021. Her recent work includes “FBI: International” in 2022 and the upcoming film “Nuremberg” in 2025.
