Lou Jeanmonnot, born on October 28, 1998, in Pontarlier, France, embarked on her athletic journey with gymnastics and mountain biking before dedicating herself to biathlon. Her early exposure to shooting, starting with an air rifle every Thursday, laid the foundation for her accurate shooting skills, which became a defining characteristic of her biathlon career. Her natural aptitude for the sport was evident when she won her first biathlon race featuring a .22 rifle. This early success propelled her through the junior ranks.
Jeanmonnot’s career progressed steadily through various levels of competition. She won the IBU Junior Cup Total Score and Individual Score in 2018. Following this, she moved to the IBU Cup, where she continued to achieve notable results, including a Gold in the Sprint and a Bronze in the Pursuit at the 2021 IBU Open European Championships. Her World Cup debut came in 2021, and her rookie season saw her achieve two podium finishes: a second-place in the Ruhpolding 15km Individual and another in the Östersund Mass Start.
The 2023/24 season marked a significant professional milestone for Jeanmonnot, solidifying her status as a top biathlete. She secured four individual victories and eight additional podiums, including a Mass Start Discipline Globe. At the IBU World Championships, she earned a Bronze in the Sprint and a Bronze in the Mass Start. The 2024/25 season saw her continue to build on this success with eight individual victories, placing her in contention for the World Cup Total Score title; however, an unexpected fall in the season-ending mass start placed her second overall. Despite this, she has regrouped with a focus on the 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
