Louis Moore Bacon, born on July 25, 1956, in Raleigh, North Carolina, developed his financial expertise early, earning an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School in 1981 and a Bachelor of Arts in American Literature from Middlebury College in 1979. His career in finance began with positions at Bankers Trust and Walter N. Frank & Co., where he traded currencies. He later joined Shearson Lehman Brothers Inc. as Senior Vice President-Futures, gaining extensive experience in financial markets.
In March 1989, Bacon founded Moore Capital Management, LP, a private investment management firm focused on global financial and private equity markets. The firm, headquartered in New York with offices in London and Hong Kong, provides investment management services to institutional and high-net-worth clients through various privately-offered funds. Parallel to his financial career, Mr. Bacon established The Moore Charitable Foundation, Inc. in 1992. This foundation supports non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation of land, water, and wildlife habitats.
His commitment to conservation has been recognized with awards such as the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership Lifetime Conservation Achievement Award, the Audubon Medal, and the Land Trust Alliance President’s Award.
