Luis Alvarez Schacht is a social media personality, actor, set decorator and producer best known for his now-deleted Instagram account, Bob’s Assistant, which had over 75,000 followers at its height. His current account on the platform (under his real name) has close to 50,000 followers and covers his interests in theatre, travel, and increasingly, human rights activism. His Bob’s Assistant title came from his time working for Bob the Drag Queen, the winner of the eighth season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Alvarez can be seen in many of Bob’s video shorts and produced both Bob & Lilith and Bob the Drag Queen: Suspiciously Large Woman. He also starred in the webseries Bobbin’ Around, which streamed on World of Wonder Presents…
Born in Miami, Alzarez’s lifelong passion for drama and live events led him to study Theatre at Florida State University where he took part in a wide range of activities and societies, many of which focused on his Hispanic roots. After graduating in 2013, he found work as a company manager with the Teatro de Broadway in Miami before moving north to New York where he became a Broadway Usher among other roles. Gradually, he began to find assistant roles for major Broadway production companies and producers, working for the likes of Harriet Leve Productions and Sergio Trujilo. In 2016, he began working for Bob the Drag Queen, who had just been crowned the champion of Ru Paul’s Drag Race. He worked for Bob for two years, ending up producing his videos as well as making cameos and becoming a social media star himself.
