Marten Van Riel is a Belgian triathlete recognized for his competitive performances at the Olympic Games and World Triathlon Championship Series events. After securing a formidable 6th-place finish in his Olympic debut at the Rio 2016 Games, Marten Van Riel rapidly established himself as a world-class triathlete. Having begun his competitive triathlon career in 2009, he quickly demonstrated significant potential. His progression became particularly notable from 2017 onwards, marked by consistent world-class performances in World Cup and World Series events, culminating in a significant victory at the Miyazaki World Cup at the close of 2017.

Further cementing his prowess, he won the Ironman 70.3 in Dubai in March 2022. Most recently, 2024 marked a historic achievement as Van Riel became the inaugural T100 World Champion. Throughout the T100 season, he secured an impressive three first-place finishes and one second-place finish, notably clinching the Grand Final in Dubai. His year also included representing Belgium at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where he finished 22nd, continuing his presence at the highest level of international competition.
