Manager of the Spanish national side and former football player, Luis Enrique is a key figure in the world of football.
Enrique enjoyed much success as a player, appearing in three World Cups for Spain and winning a gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games. He played for two of the country’s biggest clubs, Real Madrid and later Barcelona, becoming known for his goal scoring ability and being named as captain of Barcelona during his later years with the team. Enrique retired from professional football in 2004, and four years later rejoined Barcelona as a coach. He was in charge of the B Team for 3 years, making considerable progress with the team before being snapped up to coach at Roma. After two years this highly sought after manager then moved to Celta, heading up the team for just one season before returning to his beloved Barcelona. Enrique led the team to victory at the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Copa del Rey during his three seasons with the club, improving the team’s form and overall performance.
Currently manager of Spain, Enrique continues to live up to his reputation as one of the world’s best football managers. He’s built his career on his experience and tactical skill, and has been endorsed by Nike, appearing in a series of adverts for the sports brand. Enrique shows no signs of wanting to step away from the game any time soon, and looks to be in a strong position at the head of the Spanish team.
