Luis Severino is one of the best baseball pitchers currently paying in Major League Baseball, and is part of the New York Yankees side.
Severino was a fan of the New York Yankees growing up, so it was a dream come true when he was scouted to play for the team in 2011. He played in the minor leagues for his first few years with the team, quickly becoming known as one of the best prospects in the club and being recognised as one to watch. In 2015 he made his major league debut against the Boston Red Sox aged just 21 years old, the youngest pitcher to start in that season. Over the next few seasons he emerged as one of the team’s strongest players, particularly in 2017 when he broke out as one of the league’s best pitchers and came 3rd in the American League Cy Young Award. He was also named as an All Star in both 2017 and 2018, playing in both the 2017 and 2018 American League Wild Card Games. In 2019 Severino signed a four year contract to remain with the Yankees, before it was revealed that he was suffering from shoulder injuries and would need to have surgery.
After recently undergoing successful surgery, Severino is looking forward to being back on the field and back to his usual great form in the coming season.
