Luis Tavares

Securing his first professional title, the IRO 95 kg European Muay Thai Championship, in December 2012 with a fourth-round knockout victory over Rodney Glunder in Schiedam, Netherlands, Luis Tavares rapidly established himself as a dominant force in kickboxing. This early success was quickly followed in March 2014 by his first professional world title, the IKA 95 kg Championship, achieved through a decision win against Hicham Achalhi in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Around this period, Tavares made his debut with Glory, one of the sport’s premier organizations. He continued his competitive ascent in October 2015, winning the WFL ‘Unfinished Business’ Heavyweight tournament in Hoofddorp, Netherlands, where he notably defeated both Fred Sikking and Lorenzo Javier Jorge.

Demonstrating continued ambition and growth, Tavares signed with Glory Kickboxing in September 2018, strategically vacating his Enfusion titles to fully focus on his new career path within the world’s leading kickboxing promotion. His initial tenure with Glory included significant victories over notable competitors such as Artur Gorlov, Michael Duut, Stéphane Susperregui, and Donegi Abena. Continuing his impactful presence in Glory Kickboxing, Tavares consistently faced top-tier competition, including a closely contested split decision bout against Felipe Micheletti in June 2019. Following this, Tavares made a strategic transition to the heavyweight division within Glory, showcasing his adaptability and formidable power against a new array of formidable opponents.

In this demanding weight class, he has notably competed against respected fighters Bahram Rajabzadeh and Bogdan Stoica, reinforcing his status as a persistent and evolving force in professional kickboxing and underscoring his continued pursuit of excellence at the sport’s pinnacle.
