The dedicated sportsman Mackenzie Hughes is a professional golfer, who plays on the PGA Tour circuit. He was the PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit winner in 2013, and has had four professional wins. He has also competed at the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship, the US Open, and at The Open Championship where, in 2021, he tied for 6th.
Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Hughes started playing golf from a young age. He later attended Kent State University in Ohio, where he played collegiate golf. He was the No.1 Canadian Amateur in 2011, and won the 2011 and 2012 Canadian Amateur Championship, as well as being a member of Team Canada’s National squad in 2008, 2011, and 2012.
Hughes turned professional in 2012 and played on the eGolf Professional Tour and PGA Tour Canada, competing in the 2012 and 2013 Canadian Opens. In 2013 he won the PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit which earned him a Web.com Tour card. He earned his PGA Tour card for the 2016-17 season, and in November 2016 he won the RSM Classic becoming the first rookie in 20 years to win wire-to-wire. In 2021 he recorded the best ever finish for a Canadian at The Open Championship when he tied for 6th. In 2022 he won his second PGA Tour title at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
