Marco Mignot

Marco Mignot was born on December 23, 2000, in New Caledonia during a period when his family was sailing. He spent his early childhood years traversing the Australia and Tasmanian Sea before settling in Sayulita, Mexico, at the age of four. It was in Sayulita that Mignot began surfing at seven years old, following an introduction to bodyboarding by his cousin. Holding both French and Canadian passports, Mignot identifies strongly with his Mexican upbringing, crediting Sayulita’s environment with shaping his surfing career.

Mignot’s competitive surfing journey began in 2012 on the World Surf League (WSL) Men’s Junior Tour. He advanced to the Men’s Qualifying Series in 2016 and then to the Men’s Challenger Series in 2021. A significant milestone occurred in 2023 when he secured the European Qualifying Series title. In 2024, Mignot had a standout year on the Challenger Series, placing 3rd overall and achieving a victory at the Corona Saquarema Pro. He also reached the finals of the US Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach, where he finished second. These performances led to his qualification for the 2025 Championship Tour (CT).

In his debut year on the Championship Tour in 2025, Mignot achieved a 16th overall ranking and was recognized as the WSL Rookie of the Year. He is coached by Jason Aparicio. Mignot represents France in competitions, including the Olympics, while acknowledging his Mexican spirit and the foundational role Sayulita played in his development. His career reflects a steady progression from junior circuits to the elite level of professional surfing.
