Mark Teixeira

Mark Teixeira is an accomplished former Major League Baseball player, World Series champion, motivational speaker, and business professional. After earning the Dick Howser Trophy in 2000 as the national collegiate player of the year, with a .427 batting average and a 1.319 OPS, Mark Teixeira was drafted fifth overall by the Texas Rangers in the 2001 MLB draft, beginning a 14-season Major League Baseball career. He made his MLB debut on Opening Day in 2003, hitting 26 home runs as a rookie. His early professional years with the Rangers (2003-2007) saw him achieve significant milestones, including hitting for the cycle in 2004, earning his first American League All-Star selection in 2005, and securing both a Gold Glove Award and a Silver Slugger Award the same year.

In 2005, he also set a major league record for a switch-hitter with 144 RBIs and became only the third switch-hitter in MLB history to hit at least 20 home runs in each of his first three seasons. Teixeira continued his award-winning trajectory, securing another Gold Glove Award in 2006 before being traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2007, where he was named National League Player of the Month in August. After stints with the Braves (2007-2008) and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2008), he signed with the New York Yankees in 2009. That pivotal year saw him lead the American League in both home runs and runs batted in, earn another All-Star selection, and win a World Series championship with the team.

Most recently, in 2024, he returned to the field as a hitting coach for the National League team in the All-Star Futures Game. He also actively participates in various boards and charitable organizations, demonstrating continued engagement across professional and philanthropic spheres.
