Marley Shelton

Marley Eve Shelton was born on April 12, 1974, in Los Angeles, California. Her parents, Carol (a teacher and singer) and Christopher Shelton (a director and producer), were involved in local theater. Despite this, Marley initially had little interest in acting during her teenage years. She attended Eagle Rock High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader and prom queen. She also worked part-time at stores such as “Contempo” and “Wet Seal.”

Shelton later attended UCLA, majoring in Film and Theatre. She supported her studies with small parts in feature films, television movies, and episodic appearances. Her interest in acting developed into a passion during this time, particularly after studying with acting coach Larry Moss. This led her to pursue a full-time career in acting. Her feature film debut was in “Grand Canyon” (1991). She gained wider recognition for her portrayal of Margaret in “Pleasantville” (1998), a role noted for its versatility.

Throughout her career, Shelton has appeared in a range of films including “The Sandlot” (1993), “Never Been Kissed” (1999), “The Bachelor” (1999), “Valentine” (2001), “Sugar & Spice” (2001), “Bubble Boy” (2001), “Uptown Girls” (2003), “Sin City” (2005), and “Grindhouse” (2007). On television, she has held main roles in “Eleventh Hour” (2008–2009), “The Lottery” (2014), and “Rise” (2018). More recently, she reprised her role as Sheriff Judy Hicks in “Scream” (2022) and appeared in the “Yellowstone” prequel “1923” (2022–2023). She is married to film producer Beau Flynn, and they have two daughters.
