Maro Jokovic is a three time Olympic athlete, and plays water polo for his home country of Croatia as well as for the Olympiacos.
This star player started playing water polo at a young age, and joined his local club in Dubrovnik aged seven years old. He started playing for VK Jug, Croatia’s most successful water polo club, in 2004 and has won countless competitions with the team, including 13 Croatian Championships, 8 Croatian Cups and 2 Champions Leagues. It’s no surprise that he has been chosen to represent Croatia three times at the Olympic Games, making his first appearance in Beijing in 2008. Jokovic then competed again four years later in London, taking home a gold medal, before heading to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games where he and his team won silver. He was given the Order of the Croatian Interlace in 2016 and since then his career has continued to thrive. He was chosen as part of the All Star Team at the 2019 World Championships in Korea, and in the same year he moved club to join Greek team the Olympiacos. He helped the team secure victory at the 2019 Greek Super Cup and the 2020 Greek Cup.
Jokovic has his sights set on the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, as well as studying for his degree in economics at the University of Dubrovnik. He looks set for many more years of success in the pool.
