Masi Oka

Masi Oka has forged a distinctive career path, bridging the worlds of technology and entertainment as an acclaimed actor, producer, and digital effects artist. After graduating from Brown University in 1997 with a B.S. in computer science and mathematics and a minor in theater arts, Masi Oka immediately launched his professional career at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), George Lucas’ visual effects company, working as a digital effects artist and technical director. His early work contributed to major Hollywood productions, including the ‘Star Wars’ prequel trilogy, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’ (2006), and ‘War of the Worlds’ (2005).

Expanding his professional scope, Oka ventured into production, co-producing the 2017 film adaptation of ‘Death Note.’ He also founded the video game development studio Mobius Digital, which released the critically acclaimed game ‘Outer Wilds’ in 2019, where he served as an executive producer. Most recently, Oka has continued to build his acting resume with roles including the film ‘Bullet Train’ (2022) and voice work in the animated Netflix series ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ (2023).
