Born on May 20, 2002, in Newport Beach, California, Trinity Rodman quickly demonstrated a dedication to soccer from a young age. Growing up primarily in Southern California, she began playing soccer at age four, where she found her passion for the sport. Her early career saw her join SoCal Blues at ten, where her team achieved four national championships in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) and maintained a five-year undefeated streak. This foundational experience prepared her for significant professional milestones.
Rodman made history in 2021 when, at 18, she became the youngest player drafted into the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), selected second overall by the Washington Spirit. Her rookie year was marked by immediate success, scoring her first professional goal within five minutes of her debut on April 10, 2021, against the North Carolina Courage. She finished the season with 6 goals and 5 assists, contributing to the Spirit’s first league title. Her stellar performance earned her the 2021 NWSL Rookie of the Year and a spot on the NWSL Best XI. Following this, she was also named the U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year in 2021, solidifying her status as a rising star in American soccer.
Her career with the Washington Spirit continued to flourish, leading to a record-breaking contract extension in February 2022, making her the highest-paid player in NWSL history at the time. She earned her first Senior National Team call-up in 2022, debuting against the Czech Republic and scoring her first international goal that April. Rodman’s international career includes appearances in the 2022 Concacaf W Championship, where she helped the USA qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics. In 2024, she was a key player for the United States at the Paris Olympics, scoring crucial goals and contributing to the team’s gold medal victory.
