Best known for his role as manager of super-group Destiny’s Child, Mathew Knowles hosts a lifetime of experience in the entertainment industry. In 1974 Knowles graduated from Fisk University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After working for the Xerox Corporation for many years Knowles left his job in 1992 in order to further pursue his company Music World Entertainment.
Following the creation of Music World Entertainment Knowles established recording imprints such as Music World Gospel, Music World Kids, and Music World Country. He also went into business with Sony Music, Interscope, Universal, Sony Brazil, Fontana International, and Integrity Africa. In 2002 he created Spirit Rising Music later becoming Music World Gospel. In 2016 Knowles acquired Compadre and launched Music World Kids.
Renowned for his role as manager for Destiny’s Child, Knowles was involved with most of the group’s projects. The group would go on to win several Grammy, American Music Awards, and BET Awards under his management. After his daughter, Beyoncé, left the group he continued to manage her solo endeavors as well as Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland. Knowles has also been involved in film and television executive producing 2009 film “Obsessed” as well as starring in “Chancers” and “Breaking from Above.” In 2015 he came out with his book “The DNA of Achievers: 10 Traits of Highly Successful Professionals.” Three years later he became a part of Tunedly’s advisory board. In 2019 Knowles became chief marketing officer for Bangi and in 2019 helped release the album “Destiny’s Child: The Untold Story Presents Girls Tyme.”
Knowles awards to date include the Century Award of Excellence from Omega Psi Phi, the 2011 Living Legends Foundation Award, and the 2007 International Executive of The Year form the Greater Houston Partnership. He is also a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and is on the Grammy Board committee.
