Matt McCall is a distinguished American college basketball coach whose career has been marked by significant achievements and contributions to the sport. He began his journey as a student manager at the University of Florida during the 2002-03 season, quickly rising to head manager the following year. After earning his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science in 2004 and a master’s in secondary education in 2006, McCall transitioned to a professional role as the director of basketball operations for the Gators, where he honed his skills in program management and player development.

In 2008, McCall took on the role of assistant coach at Florida Atlantic University, where he played a pivotal part in shaping the team’s competitive edge until 2011. His return to the University of Florida as an assistant coach further solidified his reputation, allowing him to work under the esteemed Billy Donovan. In April 2015, McCall was appointed head coach of the Chattanooga Mocs, where he achieved remarkable success by leading the team to the Southern Conference regular season and tournament championships in his first year, marking their return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.

Following his successful tenure at Chattanooga, McCall was named the head coach of the UMass Minutemen in March 2017.
