Canadian Matthew Paquette is a film and VFX editor whose social media status is more akin to that of a leading actor than a talented, up-and-coming, behind-the-scenes guy. He can boast well over 200,000 followers across various social networks, including nearly 48,000 YouTube subscribers. He achieved this fame as a teenager on the much-missed viral video platform Vine, most notably for his comedy collaborations with Cameron Goldsworthy. Now a married man in his mid-twenties, he uses his YouTube channel to post vlogs, review equipment, and share some handy tricks for creating stunning effects on everything from Photoshop to Movavi to Premiere. His editing credits include the short films Happy Birthday 2 U! and Cain Rose Up (he also acted in the latter), and he has also worked as a camera operator on two Christmas TV movies.
Paquette was born in 1996 in the city of Peterborough, Ontario. He first came to prominence in the early-mid 2010s with the seven-second long comedy skits he uploaded to Vine both solo and in collaboration with Goldsworth. When the platform closed down, he split his operations between Facebook, Instagram, and of course, YouTube, creating a sizeable following for each. Eager to develop a more substantial career than that of “social media star”, he worked hard on developing his technical skills, with the result that he became an excellent film and VFX editor with natural creative flair. The social media entrepreneur in him has helped him to put his talents to further use by sharing them with others as he continues to build a strong industry reputation.
