United States Max Abmas, a skilled point guard, has transitioned from a highly decorated collegiate career to professional basketball, offering proficiency in scoring and playmaking.
Abmas has strategically entered into a NIL deal with Texas One Fund, showcasing his prowess not only on the basketball court but also as an endorser.
After not being selected in June's draft, Abmas signed a Summer League contract with Utah on June 27. He did not play in the first of five games. The Jazz announced a multiple training camp additions and subtractions. Abmas agreed to a training camp contract with the Jazz on Monday. The Jazz have added some firepower in Abmas, who will split time between their G League affiliate and the NBA squad as a two-way player.

Maxwell Abmas, born on April 2, 2001, in Rockwall, Texas, distinguished himself as a prominent figure in college basketball before embarking on his professional journey. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, where he joined the varsity team in his sophomore year. During his senior season, Abmas averaged 19.1 points and 3.7 assists per game, earning District 9-6A co-MVP honors. Despite being lightly recruited, he committed to Oral Roberts University, showcasing his potential early in his career.
Abmas began his collegiate career at Oral Roberts in 2019, where he quickly became a regular starter, averaging 14.4 points as a freshman and earning Summit League All-Newcomer Team honors. He reached a career-high of 42 points against South Dakota State in 2021. His tenure at Oral Roberts spanned from 2019 to 2023, during which he was named the Summit League Player of the Year twice (2021, 2023) and was a three-time First-team All-Summit League selection (2021-2023). He led Oral Roberts to an NCAA tournament berth in 2021, where he made headlines for scoring at least 25 points in each of the first three rounds, a feat not seen since Stephen Curry in 2008. During this period, he was also recognized with the Lou Henson Award in 2021 and as the NCAA scoring champion in the same year.
In 2023, Abmas transferred to the University of Texas for his final collegiate season. He started all 34 games, leading the team in scoring, assists, and minutes, and was recognized as the Men’s Basketball Academic All-America of the Year in 2024. Following an undrafted entry into the 2024 NBA draft, Abmas joined the Utah Jazz for the Summer League. He signed a contract with the Utah Jazz in September 2024, later being waived and subsequently joining the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League in October 2024. With career totals of 3,132 points across his collegiate years, Abmas is one of only 12 players in NCAA Division I men’s basketball history to exceed 3,000 career points.
