The amazing Michael Dameski is a dancer, choreographer, actor, and singer, best known as Australia’s Favourite Dancer for 2014 after winning the Australian version of So You Think You Can Dance. He was also the runner-up on season two of NBC’s reality talent show World of Dance. Outside of performing he offers private lessons and dance tutorials.
Born and raised in Sydney, Dameski was six-years-old when he entered his first dance competition, The 2001 Australian Dance Idol programme. Without any formal dance training he placed in the Top 10 of the competition. He trained at the Glenda Yee School of Dance, and at the Brent Street Studios, where he was given the opportunity to represent Australia in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. He received Gold in each category he entered and was named overall Junior World Dancer. In 2013 he won the Australian Dancer of the Year title at the Showcase Australian Dance Championships, and then went on to win the US dance title Rainbow Dance in Las Vegas. His professional career began in 2009 at the age of 13 when he was cast in the title role of Billy Elliot the Musical on Broadway. After being crowned Australia’s favourite dancer as the winner of So You Think You Can Dance in 2014, he joined the cast of Disney’s Newsies the Broadway Musical. In 2018 he finished as the runner-up of NBC’s World of Dance season two.
Dameski regularly connects with his hundreds of thousands of followers and fans through Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, posting pictures and videos about his life around dance.
