Michael Hayböck

Michael Hayböck was born on March 5, 1991, in Linz, Oberösterreich, Austria. He began his competitive ski jumping career and quickly established himself as a prominent figure, becoming a junior world champion in Hinterzarten in 2010. Hayböck made his World Cup debut in the 2009/10 season, steadily improving his rankings over the years. His individual career highlights include five World Cup wins, with his first victory on January 6, 2015, in Bischofshofen during the Four Hills Tournament. He continued to secure podium finishes in individual events, demonstrating his skill and competitive drive.

Hayböck’s Olympic journey includes participation in the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. At the 2014 Sochi Games, he achieved 5th place in the individual normal hill and 8th in the individual large hill competitions. He earned an Olympic silver medal as part of the Austrian team in the large hill team event, alongside Thomas Morgenstern, Thomas Diethart, and Gregor Schlierenzauer. He further contributed to Austria’s success in team events at the World Nordic Ski Championships, securing multiple silver and bronze medals through 2023.

Throughout his career, Hayböck has been a consistent presence in the top ranks of ski jumping, with high placements in World Cup overall standings and specific tournament series like the Four Hills Tournament. He set a new record at the Große Olympiaschanze in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with a jump of 145 meters on January 1, 2025. Hayböck announced his retirement at the end of the 2024/2025 season, reflecting on a career marked by both individual achievements and strong team dynamics.
