Michele Selene Ang was born in Surabaya, Indonesia, and later immigrated to the San Francisco Bay Area with her family, where she became a naturalized U.S. citizen. She was raised in Fairfield, California, and received her early training at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts for Theater. Her artistic talents were recognized early, as evidenced by her being a 2012 National YoungArts Program Silver Award winner in Theater and a 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Following her high school education, Michele pursued higher education at Fordham University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance. This academic foundation included participation in a variety of student theatrical productions, preparing her for a professional career in acting.

Ang’s career progression includes significant achievements in both television and stage. She gained widespread recognition for her role as Courtney Crimsen in the Netflix series “13 Reasons Why,” appearing in 22 episodes from 2017 to 2020. Her theatrical engagements have included performances at prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, East West Players, and Yale Rep, highlighting her versatility and dedication to live performance. In film, her independent feature debut, “How I Learned to Fly” (2023), secured a theatrical release through Film Movement and is accessible on Apple TV. Demonstrating her expanding involvement in the industry, Michele Selene Ang has also ventured into filmmaking under her production company, February Face Productions. Through this banner, she has produced several short films and is currently engaged in developing additional narrative shorts, with a feature directorial debut in progress.
