Michelle Stafford was born on September 14, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois. Her early life included a move to Montrose, California, with her parents and older sister, Janine. After completing high school, Stafford began a career in modeling, traveling to international locations such as Japan, France, and Italy. This experience, particularly her time in Italy, reportedly led to her developing an interest in acting. Upon returning to the United States, she pursued acting roles in Hollywood. Her initial acting role was in the teen afternoon soap opera “Tribes” in 1990. Following this, she appeared in various commercials and made guest appearances in television shows. Her early stage work included starring in two plays directed by Charles Durning, where her performance in “Savage in Limbo” was noted by the Los Angeles Times.

Stafford’s career advanced significantly when she was cast as Phyllis Summers on “The Young and the Restless” in 1994. Although initially intended to be a short-term character, her portrayal of Phyllis became popular with audiences and led to a contract role. Within two years of joining the show, she received an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress and two consecutive Soap Opera Digest Awards. From December 2006 to February 2007, she took on dual roles on the show, also portraying Sheila Carter. In 2013, she created and starred in her own comedy web series, “The Stafford Project,” which received positive critical feedback. From 2014 to 2019, she played Nina Reeves on “General Hospital.” In 2016, Stafford launched a skincare product line called Skin Nation, which offers organic, natural, gluten-free, and cruelty-free products.
