Author, presenter and self-proclaimed anti-chef, Miguel Barclay, is best known for being the brains behind One Pound Meals, the hugely successful Instagram account and YouTube channel that presents recipes for one person costing just £1. His first book, One Pound Meals, became the biggest debut cookbook of the year and a Sunday Times Manuals chart bestseller. He has now written and published six One Pound Meal books, including Storecupboard One Pound Meals, Super Easy One Pound Meals and Meat-Free One Pound Meals. He also lends his support to the BBC’s Tiny Happy People campaign and has set up Miguel’s Pizza based out of London.
The aim behind Barclay’s anti-chef creations is to break down recipes, take away ingredients and find shortcuts to making tastier food on a tight budget. He wants to inspire more people to cook quicker and healthier meals from scratch, believing that homemade doesn’t have to mean hard work. He has shared many of his recipes in countless print and online publications, including The Sun, The Guardian, Asda Good Living, Sainsbury’s Magazine and BBC Food. He has also cooked live on ITV’s This Morning, as well as on BBC London News, and is a popular face at food festivals throughout the UK.
Barclay works from his kitchen in London’s Camden Town and regularly shares new recipe ideas and cooking tips with his legions of fans and followers via Twitter and Instagram. He has his own YouTube channel, Miguel Barclay: One Pound Meals, as well as an official website, onepoundmeals.com. Miguel’s Pizza has official Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts, too, and sells all kinds of apparel (as well as pizza and beer) through their official website, miguelspizza.co.uk
