Michael “Mike” Dolce was born on April 15, 1976, in Belmar, New Jersey. From a young age, he developed an interest in muscle building and strength training, leading him to pursue wrestling and powerlifting in high school. At 13, Dolce began wrestling competitively and managed his weight to aim for a college scholarship. By 1993, at 17, he established his personal training business, marking the beginning of his career in health and fitness.
Dolce transitioned into mixed martial arts (MMA), beginning his training in 1990 and fighting professionally starting in 1999. He achieved a notable record, including the fastest knockout in International Fight League (IFL) history while fighting for the Portland Wolfpack. His fighting career also included an appearance on season 7 of The Ultimate Fighter. Post-fighting, Dolce shifted his focus to coaching, joining Team Quest in Portland, Oregon, in 2004 as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, working with athletes such as Randy Couture and Dan Henderson.
His expertise in weight management gained significant attention in 2010 after he successfully guided Quinton “Rampage” Jackson through a 45-pound weight cut. This led to his role as a prominent weight-cut coach for many UFC athletes, including Johny Hendricks, Ronda Rousey, and Thiago Alves. Dolce is also a #1 bestselling author, with works like “The Dolce Diet: 3 Weeks to Shredded” (2007) and “The Dolce Diet: Living Lean” (2010), and he hosts “The Mike Dolce Show” podcast. He has been recognized as the World MMA Trainer of the Year four times (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) and inducted into the New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2014.
