Early in his career, he served as a studio host for college football telecasts on FSN and covered ACC Sunday Night Hoops. Goldberg was also a sideline reporter for the Chicago Bulls during their championship runs in 1991, 1992, and 1993, and has called Big Ten, ACC, and SEC college football and basketball games.

His journey with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) began on December 21, 1997, as a commentator for UFC Japan: Ultimate Japan.
