Michael George Vrabel, born on August 14, 1975, in Akron, Ohio, established himself as a prominent figure in the National Football League, first as an accomplished linebacker and later as a head coach. He attended Walsh Jesuit High School and played college football at Ohio State University from 1993 to 1996, earning All-American honors twice. Vrabel concluded his collegiate career as the Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year in both 1995 and 1996, a distinction he shares with only one other player. He was recognized for his exceptional performance by being named to the Ohio State Football All-Century Team in 2000 and inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.

Vrabel’s NFL playing career spanned 14 seasons after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft. He spent four years with the Steelers before joining the New England Patriots in 2001, where he notably won three Super Bowl titles (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX). During his eight seasons with the Patriots, Vrabel was recognized for his versatility, occasionally playing as a tight end and scoring 10 touchdowns on 14 receptions in his career. He earned Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro selections in 2007. Following his time with the Patriots, he played two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before retiring as a player in 2011.

After his playing career, Vrabel transitioned to coaching, beginning at Ohio State as a linebackers coach in 2011 and defensive line coach from 2012–2013. He then moved to the NFL, serving as a linebackers coach for the Houston Texans from 2014 to 2016 and as their defensive coordinator in 2017. In 2018, Vrabel became the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, leading them to three playoff appearances, two consecutive division titles, and an AFC Championship Game appearance in 2019. He was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2021 after guiding the Titans to the top seed in their conference. In 2025, Vrabel took on the role of head coach for the New England Patriots, marking a return to the franchise where he achieved significant success as a player.
