Russian taekwondo practitioner Mikhail Artamonov is a European Champion, Grand Prix gold medallist, and World Championships finalist. Competing mainly in the 58kg or flyweight division, Artamonov represents Russia internationally and has been ranked as one of the Top 10 taekwondo athletes worldwide by World Taekwondo.
Artamonov first gained international attention on the youth and junior circuits, taking his first youth title at the Belgian Open in 2014, and landing a silver medal at the European Junior Championships in Bucharest the following year. Meanwhile, he began competing successfully at senior events across the world, taking golds at Open Tournaments in Russia, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium, and taking his first senior continental medal with bronze at the 2016 European Championships in Montreux. To date, Artamonov has scored over a dozen gold medals at Open events, and has twice taken gold at the WT President’s Cup.
2017 saw Artamonov reach even greater heights on the international stage, culminating with a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships in Muju. The next year, he would earn his first victory on the Grand Prix circuit when he landed gold in Rome, and he later returned to take further medals in Moscow and in Rome the following season. Widely recognised as one of the most promising and exciting talents in taekwondo, Artamanov’s star is only set to rise in the years ahead.
