Milind Kumar was born on February 15, 1991, in Delhi, India, where his father, Suman Kumar, worked as a banker. Before embarking on his international cricket career, Kumar was employed by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. His early career in India saw him play for Delhi, Sikkim, and Tripura in domestic cricket. He also spent time with Brothers Union in Bangladesh, demonstrating his ability to adapt to different cricketing environments and leagues. Kumar’s talent was recognized by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, leading to his acquisition by Delhi Daredevils in IPL Season 7 for INR 10 Lakh, and later by Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL12 (2019) at his base price of 20 lakhs.
A significant turning point in Kumar’s domestic career came ahead of the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy when he was drafted from Delhi to Sikkim. He notably became the top scorer in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, accumulating 1331 runs. In August 2019, he was included in the India Green team for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy. Following his stints in Indian domestic cricket and the IPL, Kumar made the move to the United States. In June 2021, he was selected to participate in the Minor League Cricket tournament. His career progression continued in June 2023 when he was drafted by the Texas Super Kings to play in the inaugural season of the Major League Cricket. He was later nominated for the Men’s ICC Player of the Month for May 2025.
Internationally, Milind Kumar’s career saw him make his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for the United States against Canada on April 7, 2024. He also plays for the United States national cricket team in One Day Internationals, having debuted against Canada on August 13, 2024. His consistent performances have led to his selection in the USA squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Kumar holds the record for the highest ODI average among players with a minimum of 1000 runs, standing at 67.73 after 22 matches and scoring 1,016 runs with a top score of 155*
