Mona Brorsson

Mona Brorsson, born on March 28, 1990, in Koppom, Sweden, embarked on her biathlon career, eventually competing in the World Cup for over ten seasons. Her journey in professional biathlon commenced with her World Cup debut in 2013, marking the beginning of a consistent presence on the international stage. Throughout her career, Brorsson participated in two Olympic Games and five World Championships, demonstrating her consistent dedication and performance at the highest levels of the sport. She concluded her professional biathlon career at the close of the 2023/2024 World Cup season, receiving an emotional farewell from her teammates and the biathlon community.

Brorsson’s career is highlighted by significant achievements in major international competitions. She earned a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang as part of the 4 x 6 km relay team. Further solidifying her standing in the sport, she secured another silver medal at the 2019 Biathlon World Championships in Östersund, also in the 4 x 6 km relay. The peak of her Olympic career came at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where she was a member of the Swedish team that won the gold medal in the 4 x 6 km relay event. Beyond team successes, Brorsson also achieved individual podium finishes in the World Cup, notably a 3rd place in an individual race in Antholz-Anterselva in January 2022 and a 2nd place in a sprint race in Ruhpolding in January 2024.

In addition to her Olympic and World Championship medals, Brorsson also found success at the European Championships, securing gold medals in the 10 km pursuit in Nové Město in 2014 and in both the Mixed Relay and 7.5 km sprint at Raubichi in 2019. Her consistent performance and longevity in the sport are further underscored by her participation in over 200 World Cup events, earning her a ‘200+ World Cups’ badge. Following her retirement from competitive biathlon, Brorsson was elected to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Athlete Council Group 2 for the 2025-2027 term, transitioning her involvement in sports to an advocacy and governance role.
