Moritz Seider made his debut for Adler Mannheim in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) at just 16 years old in 2018, quickly emerging as a top prospect in German ice hockey. His rapid development and strong performances led him to be drafted sixth overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, a testament to his potential. Following his draft, Seider signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Red Wings in 2019 and spent the 2019-20 season gaining valuable experience with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League (AHL). Due to the delayed North American season in 2020, Seider was loaned to Rögle BK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) for the 2020-21 season.

As a key and foundational piece for the Detroit Red Wings, Moritz Seider, who currently serves as an alternate captain, solidified his long-term commitment to the franchise by signing a seven-year, $59.85 million contract in 2024.
