Rising ice hockey superstar Jack Hughes is a center and alternate captain for the National Hockey League (NHL)’s New Jersey Devils. Drafted first overall by the Devils, the hockey phenomenon is a product of the U.S National Development Team and was widely regarded as the top prospect in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Hughes made history as the first player to make the leap directly to the NHL from the USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program.
There has been a huge buzz around the talented youngster since he was around 15 years old, and now he’s ready to prove he’s worthy of the hype and is on the verge of breaking out as a major star of the NHL.
Born in Orlando, Florida, the hockey ace grew up in Toronto, Ontario, and comes from a family of ice hockey athletes. His mother won a silver medal playing for the United States national team, his father was a player and later a coach for the Boston Bruins, and his brothers Quinn and Luke have both been picked by NHL sides.
Since being drafted as the no 1 pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Hughes has progressed through his first three NHL seasons showing glimpses of what kind of player he could be. His first year was a steep learning curve, but Hughes has since proven he has the mentality and skill set to be among the NHL’s elite.
