The fabulous Terrance Kelly, who is known professionally as Mr Cheeks, is a Grammy Award-winning Hip Hop artist, songwriter, and actor. He is the founding member of the Platinum selling group, and is a successful solo artist. He is also the CEO of Wundertwinz Records.
Born and raised in Virginia, Kelly grew up surrounded by musical talent and was mentored by his legendary uncle Gil Scott-Heron. In 1991 he formed the group Lost Boyz performing under the name Mr Cheeks with fellow musicians Freaky Tah, Sprigg Nice, and Pretty Lou. They released their debut single in 1995, Lifestyles of the Rich & Shameless, which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. The group gained worldwide critical acclaim following the release of their albums, Legal Drug Money in 1996, and Love, Peace & Nappiness in 1997. Tragedy struck when Freaky Tah was shot and killed in March 1999, and the three remaining group members decided to finish their third album LB IV Life. It was released in September 1999, but fell short both critically and commercially, failing to provide any Hot 100 hits.
Lost Boyz dissolved and Mr. Cheeks began to pursue a solo career, releasing his debut album, John P. Kelly, in 2001. It featured the hit single Lights, Camera, Action!, as well as a tribute song to Freaky Tah, Till We Meet Again. His second album, Back Again!, came out in 2003, quickly followed by 2004’s Ladies and Ghettomen. After time away from the recording studio, his fourth album, Raised, was released in 2015, and then he reformed Lost Boyz with new line-up Freaky Kah, and K Chrys, and they released their fourth album, Next Generation, in 2019. That was quickly followed by 2020’s Legacy.
