After being accepted into UCLA’s prestigious theater department as the only African American female freshman from an audition pool of 50, Nakia Burrise launched her professional acting career with a significant role as Tanya Sloan, the Yellow Power Ranger. She debuted in Power Rangers Zeo in 1996, quickly becoming a recognized face within the popular franchise. Her tenure as the Yellow Power Ranger continued through Power Rangers Turbo, where she appeared in a combined 75 episodes and starred in the 1997 feature film Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
