Nakia Burrise

Born in San Diego, California, Nakia Burrise developed an early interest in the performing arts. She attended UCLA’s theater department, being the only African American female freshman accepted from an audition pool of 50. Her professional acting career began with a significant role as Tanya Sloan, the Yellow Power Ranger, in Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Turbo, appearing in 75 episodes and a feature film. This early success established her presence in television and film, leading to numerous roles in commercials, print ads, and various television shows.

Building on her acting foundation, Burrise expanded her career into production. In 2012, she founded Sovereignty Entertainment Inc., a production company focused on creating family-friendly television, web series, and films. A notable achievement for her company was the creation, co-writing, and production of two seasons of the single-camera comedy series, *Life After Saving the World*. This series garnered recognition, winning the Empire Award in the New York Screenplay Contest and placing in the LAIFFA Independent Film Festival, subsequently securing a distribution deal. Her career also saw her take on a recurring role as Angela Macklin on Nickelodeon’s *Danger Force* from 2020 to 2023.

Beyond traditional acting and production, Nakia Burrise has ventured into other media. In 2020, she co-launched the YouTube channel, Power Rangers Playback, which features commentary, nostalgia, and trivia related to past Power Rangers episodes. In 2021, she launched the podcast series *Super Chat with Cat and Nakia*, using the platform to share her experiences and insights gained over a decade as a community leader and role model. She also continues to engage with fans globally as a guest at comic conventions.
