Vietnamese makeup artist Nam Vo became hugely successful on social media thanks to the mesmerising reels of her applying highlighter and getting her signature “dewy dumpling” look. Her popularity on the likes of Instagram and TikTok (more than half a million followers across both platforms) has won her celebrity clients such as Kylie Jenner, Michelle Phan, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Chrissy Teigen as well as an ever-growing editorial portfolio. She is currently based in New York City.

Vo grew up in Vietnam. Her mother didn’t have the money for skincare products, and her skin suffered in the Vietnamese heat as a result. However, she impressed upon her daughter the importance of hydrated skin. It’s advice that Vo took to heart (she claims to have a facial every day) and which forms the basis of her approach to natural makeup: it’s about looking after your skin first and then applying makeup to highlight its natural vitality, not applying makeup to create the illusion of vitality.

Vo’s approach to makeup and skincare has inspired her hundreds of thousands of followers and seen her quizzed by the likes of Glamour and InStyle on her secrets. She has been called “The Queen of Glow Jobs” and the radiant, natural glow she achieves has been labelled the “dewy dumpling” look, taking on a life of its own.
