Nick Kosir was born on October 7, 1983, in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Organizational Communications from the University of Akron in 2005. Kosir furthered his education by completing a Meteorology certification at Mississippi State University in 2010. His early career included roles as a reporter and part-time weather forecaster at WMFD-TV in Mansfield, Ohio, where he later became the weather director. In October 2008, he joined KBTV-TV, the FOX affiliate in Beaumont, Texas, as a morning meteorologist, where he became known as “The Rapping Weatherman.” Following this, he worked for three years at KMVT-TV in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Kosir then spent seven years as the morning meteorologist for FOX affiliate WJZY-TV’s Good Day Charlotte newscast in Charlotte, N.C. During his tenure, he delivered daily weather reports and covered significant weather events, including Tropical Storm Isaias. It was during this period that Kosir began creating viral dancing and rapping videos, gaining him the moniker “The Dancing Weatherman.” His social media presence grew significantly, accumulating over 7 million followers across TikTok and Instagram. One of his viral dance videos was featured in Lil Nas X’s opening at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.
In 2021, Kosir transitioned to FOX Weather, where he currently serves as a meteorologist for the ad-supported streaming weather service. He continues to blend his meteorological expertise with his distinctive social media persona, engaging a broad audience. Kosir has also leveraged his social media success to establish “The Kosir Code,” a program offering insights into building a large online following and securing brand partnerships. He lives outside New York City with his wife and son.
