Nicolas Maury is a French actor famous for starring in unconventional roles where he challenges his acting skills to the maximum. He is best known for his portrayal of Hervé André-Jesack in the French television series Dix pour cent which has also been broadcast on Netflix around the world.
Born and raised in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, France, Maury was attending the Conservatoire National de Bordeaux when he won his first role in Ceux qui m’aiment prendront le train (Those Who Love Me Can Take The Train). He then trained at the Paris National Conservatory for Dramatic Arts before appearing in several other films including Regular Lovers and Les Amants réguliers. He also began a successful collaboration in theatre with director Robert Cantarella, starring in The Jealousy of Barbouillé at the Théâtre de Dijon.
His 2013 role in the Yann Gonzalez film Les Rencontres d’après minuit as a transvestite maid cemented his reputation as a versatile actor who could take on the most challenging roles, and two years later he landed the dream role of iconic character Hervé André-Jesack in Dix Pour cent. The role introduced Maury to international audiences, and he has been constantly in demand for film roles in the last five years since appearing in the show. The start of the new decade saw Maury go behind the camera for the first time when he directed the movie Garçon chiffon (Cloth Boy) in 2020.
