Nigel Hayes

Nigel Hayes-Davis was born on December 16, 1994, in Westerville, Ohio. He began his basketball career at Whitmer High School in Toledo, Ohio, before advancing to college basketball at the University of Wisconsin. During his time with the Wisconsin Badgers from 2013 to 2017, Hayes-Davis demonstrated consistent growth and leadership. In his junior season (2015-2016), he led the Badgers in scoring with 15.7 points per game and assists with 3.0 per game, earning a first-team All-Big Ten selection. Entering his senior year, he was named Preseason Big Ten Player of the Year, averaging 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He graduated in May 2017 with a degree in business finance and investment banking. After going undrafted in the 2017 NBA draft, Hayes-Davis started his professional journey with the New York Knicks for the 2017 NBA Summer League, eventually playing for their G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks. He later secured short stints in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, and Sacramento Kings during the 2017-2018 season, gaining valuable experience.

Following his initial NBA exposure, Hayes-Davis transitioned to European basketball, where he established himself as a prominent international player. He signed with Galatasaray in Turkey for the 2018-2019 season, averaging 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He then moved to Žalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania, playing from 2019 to 2021, where he helped the team secure two Lithuanian League championships and two Lithuanian Cups. His EuroLeague performance improved significantly, averaging 9.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in his second season with Žalgiris. From 2021 to 2022, he played for FC Barcelona, contributing to their appearance in the 2022 EuroLeague Final Four. His career progression continued with Fenerbahçe in Turkey from 2022 to 2025, where he achieved remarkable success, including two Turkish League championships, two Turkish Cups, and a EuroLeague championship in 2025. He was named the EuroLeague Final Four MVP and holds the record for most points scored in a EuroLeague game with 50 points, achieved against Alba Berlin in the 2023-2024 season. In July 2025, Hayes-Davis returned to the NBA, signing a one-year contract with the Phoenix Suns.

Throughout his career, Hayes-Davis has been recognized for his versatility and impactful play on both ends of the court. His ability to adapt to different leagues and teams, consistently delivering strong performances, highlights his commitment and skill.
