JJ Barea is a former NBA champion and Puerto Rican national team star who has transitioned from a celebrated playing career to a coaching role, sharing insights on leadership and resilience. After signing as a free agent with the Dallas Mavericks, Barea made his NBA debut on November 4, 2006. Following a successful stint with the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA Development League, where he was named Performer of the Week in January 2007, Barea became an integral part of the Mavericks roster, a role that culminated in an NBA championship in 2011. His pivotal performance in critical playoff games against the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat earned him a starting role, contributing directly to the Mavericks securing their first-ever franchise title.

Transitioning seamlessly from player to mentor, Barea now brings his invaluable insights on leadership and resilience to a coaching capacity. He is slated to join the Denver Nuggets as an assistant coach starting in 2025, embarking on a new chapter to shape the next generation of basketball talent.
