Nina Kiri

Nina Kiri was born as Nina Kiridžija in Belgrade, Serbia, Yugoslavia. Her early life was marked by her family’s relocation to Vancouver, Canada, where her performing career began with school theatre productions. By 2007, she had transitioned into professional stage acting. Kiri made her screen debut in 2011 with a brief appearance in the Disney Channel television movie “Geek Charming.” This early role laid the groundwork for her future in film and television.

Kiri’s career progressed with several horror film roles in the mid-2010s, including “Let Her Out” (2016), “The Haunted House on Kirby Road” (2016), and “The Heretics” (2017). Her performance in “The Heretics” earned her recognition, including the Festival Prize for Best Actress at the Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival in 2017. A significant turning point in her career was securing a recurring role as Alma in “The Handmaid’s Tale” in 2017. She appeared in the series from its first season through to its fourth, and later returned for guest appearances in seasons five and six, cementing her presence in a critically acclaimed production. She is fluent in French and Serbo-Croatian.

Beyond acting, Kiri has also ventured into writing and directing. She co-wrote and directed the short film “Tunnel Beach” in 2020. Her writing and directing credits also include the TV series “Blood” (2018-2019). Her recent and upcoming acting projects include “Fingernails” (2023), “Escalation” (2023), “Shook” (2024), “Writing a Love Song” (2024), “Out Standing” (2025), and “The Undertone” (2025). These roles highlight her continued engagement in diverse cinematic and television productions.
