Park Ji-hoon, born on May 29, 1999, in Masan, South Korea, began his career as a child actor and advertisement model. His early acting roles included musicals such as ‘Peter Pan’ (2007–2009), ‘The Harmonium in My Memory’ (2010), and ‘Radio Star’ (2010–2011), as well as television dramas like ‘Jumong’ (2006–2007) and ‘The King and I’ (2007–2008). He also appeared in SS501’s reality show ‘SS501 SOS’ (2006) and ‘KM Idol War’ with Big Bang (2007). After training with SM Entertainment and Fantagio, he joined Maroo Entertainment.
Park Ji-hoon gained significant recognition in 2017 as the second-place winner of the second season of ‘Produce 101,’ leading to his debut as a member of the boy group Wanna One. Following Wanna One’s disbandment in 2018, he launched his solo music career with the EP ‘O’Clock’ in March 2019, earning his first solo music show win. Concurrently, he returned to acting with a role in the JTBC historical drama ‘Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency’ (2019), which brought him considerable praise and topped drama cast hot topic lists for eight consecutive weeks. He continued his music career with subsequent EPs, ‘360’ (2019) and ‘The W’ (2020), and released his first studio album, ‘Message,’ in November 2020. He also held his first online solo concert, ‘Message,’ in December 2020.
His acting career progressed with lead roles in the web drama ‘Love Revolution’ (2020), where he also contributed to the soundtrack, and the KBS college drama ‘At a Distance, Spring Is Green’ (2021). Park Ji-hoon further solidified his acting prowess with the lead role in the Wavve k-drama ‘Weak Hero Class 1’ (2022), which was a commercial and critical success, leading to numerous accolades, including Best New Actor awards at the Blue Dragon Series Awards (2023) and Korea Drama Awards (2023). This role was hailed as a “rediscovery” of his talent, highlighting his ability to portray complex characters. In 2024, he starred in the film ‘Audrey’ and the drama ‘Love Song for Illusion,’ portraying dual roles and winning the Excellence Award for Best Actor at the KBS Drama Awards. He signed with YY Entertainment in August 2024 for his future endeavors and is set to appear in ‘Weak Hero Class 2’ in 2025.
