Paul Barron transitioned from a professional football goalkeeper to a respected goalkeeping coach, contributing to numerous clubs across the English football leagues. After turning professional in July 1976 with Plymouth Argyle, Paul Barron embarked on a distinguished playing career in English football, following an earlier tenure as a PE instructor and stints with non-league clubs including Welling United, Wycombe Wanderers, and Slough Town. He further solidified his professional standing by signing with Arsenal in July 1978, where he made eight appearances for the club between 1978 and 1980. This period laid the groundwork for his reputation as a reliable and skilled goalkeeper in top-tier competition.
Subsequently, Barron joined Newcastle United as their goalkeeping coach in 2007, where he remained until 2010, further cementing his reputation in elite football development. More recently, Paul Barron has expanded his coaching influence internationally, having served as a coach for the Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy. As of 2023, he is actively involved with the Las Vegas Sports Academy, where he coaches the Girls’ Elite Academy teams, continuing to shape the next generation of football talent with his decades of professional experience.
